The fascinating technique of bone inlay traces back to the early 18th century. The embellished furniture of ancient Egypt and China shows remnants of bone inlay.  In India, The Mughal Empire played a pivotal role in the evolution of inlay art. It adorned architectural elements because of its obvious beauty and it was also a sign of power and importance at the same time. 

The bone inlay process is a meticulous one which takes time and patience. It generally takes a month to design and create depending on the complexity of the patterns.

Most often, camel bones which are ethically sourced as a by-product are used firstly cut into delicate shapes by artisans. Mother-of-pearl is another option to camel bone which lends a gorgeous sheen. Then these intricate shapes are affixed onto a frame in a detailed pattern. After this, resin is filled around the bone shapes to craft the background. The bone pieces are offset by striking color of the resin to create a stunning result. 

The materials used in bone inlay furniture are simple, but the process of creating intricate designs require a steady hand and a keen eye.
