Handcarved Mancala Board Game - Rare collectible

Bring home a piece of living heritage with "Pallanguzhi", an ancient strategy game that originated in Tamil Nadu, South India. Its name, meaning “many pits,” reflects the iconic 14-cup board that has connected generations across Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka.

Traditionally handcrafted from rich woods like teak or rosewood, the board is paired with simple playing pieces like tamarind seeds, shells, or pebbles, reminding us that great games don’t need complexity, just imagination and connection.

Easy to learn yet deeply strategic, Pallanguzhi invites players to sow, capture, and outthink their opponent. But beyond the gameplay lies its true magic: this is a game that once brought families together in sunlit courtyards, where grandmothers taught children counting, patience, and life lessons one move at a time.

This particular piece has been hand carved and has softened around the edges as a reminder that it has been passed down through generation, carrying stories of laughter, quiet afternoon and shared wisdom.
